Welcome to our green event!

We, the organising team, are committed to reducing the environmental impact of this event and promoting sustainable practices among our participants.

Our main goals for this event are

• Minimising waste: catering is served on reusable dishes and the caterer has a green waste management concept. Of course, we use digitalization to avoid any paper in the organisation of this event and onsite during the event. Name patches will be repeatedly reused. We will also forgo conference maps, any physical giveaways and promotional material. And please do not expect any confetti rain.
• Saving energy is essential to minimise the carbon footprint of this event: A virtual participation on 10 May 2023 will drastically reduce travel emissions, and we expect around two thirds of all participants to join us only virtually. Also, around 50 speakers of the workshops on this day will do that from their (home) office.
  The location “Viennese Town Hall” (Rathaus Wien) is located right in the middle of the city and is easily reachable by public transport. The evening reception is also just a 5 minutes’ walk away. 
• Best social inclusion: The location is accessible for disabled persons and the event’s website is also barrier-free. In addition, one workshop promotes diversity as an innovation and efficiency driver.
• Regionality first: Catering, technical staff and transport organisations are from Vienna in order to avoid unnecessary transportation services.
• Economic principles: All organisers are non-profit organisations and each expense is double-checked if really needed and not harming the environment.
• We have diligently calculated the amount of food needed to keep the energy level of our participants high. However, if there will nevertheless be non-served leftovers, participants are encouraged to take them home or handover to soical projects in order to avoid having to throw away valuable food products.

To achieve these goals, we ask that all participants take responsibility for their actions and follow the sustainability principles of this event.
